"The creamy-bright beeswax chunks
I used to make the illustrations for
Apples Dipped in Honey are a far cry
from the skinny crayons I broke to bits
as a child. I employ a high-energy
technique that is a cross between
printing, drawing and monument rubbing.
After carefully carving the image in a
linoleum block, I can express my passions
through the energetic rubbing of vibrant color.
My intent was to invite all the senses to experience of Jewish world: honey-coated
fingers, Grandma's hug, the clangor of noisemakers, the peal of the shofar,
flickering holiday candles.…"
